Dev Banad Viswanath, Esq. is the principal attorney of the Banad Law Offices, P.C a firm which has a legal practice primarily handling U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law among other related legal matters. The Banad law Offices has two offices located in Manhattan and Queens, New York and also two offices in Mumbai and Bangalore, India.

Dev has always had a close connection to the process of immigration being the product of immigrant parents who came from Bangalore and, he was raised in Queens, NY- the “land of immigrants.” Dev obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Boston University in Boston, MA and he received his Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law in White Plains, NY. Dev has also obtained a Certificate of Concentration in International Law. He has been honored by his peers with the Adolf Homberger Outstanding Humanitarian Award. Dev has conversational ability in several languages including Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Kannada, with some proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Dev Banad Viswanath has successfully written and assisted in writing briefs before the Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and Petitions for Review before the 2nd Circuit & 3rd Circuit Courts of Appeals. He has represented individuals and corporations from all over the world in various stages of the Immigration & Nationality process including consular processing, citizenship, permanent residence and non-immigrant visa petitions.

Dev has experience working in the field of immigration law since 2002 and he is very committed to client contact and communication. Dev has interacted extensively with U.S. Consulates and Embassies all over the world and he has also successfully represented clients before the US Citizenship & Immigration Services outside the United States. Overseas, Dev has represented hundreds of clients in family-based and employment-based lawful permanent resident (green card) cases as well as for several different types of non-immigrant visas. Additionally, Mr. Viswanath has successfully represented several clients in waiver applications when initially found inadmissible for prior immigration violations.

Dev Banad Viswanath has lectured extensively on Immigration & Nationality law issues both in the United States, The United Kingdom, and in India. He has taught classes on Immigration Law to both law school student, as well as practicing lawyers.

Currently, he is Of Counsel to Morgan, Levine, and Dolan P.C., a firm handling all aspects of Personal Injury. In Addition, he is the General Counsel to the Heart & Hand for the Handicapped (HHH) a non-profit group dedicated to providing funding for causes that help support the physically challenged in India and the United States.

Since 2009, Mr. Banad has been a Trustee to the Rashtreeya Shiksana Samithi Trust (RSST) which runs over 26 educational institutions under the Rashtreeya Vidalaya (RV) banner in Bangalore, India and he actively participates with the Trust as well as specific schools. In addition to his immigration offices in Bangalore and Mumbai, Dev is involved with Business Development and has Real Estate ventures there and in the US.

In 2018, Dev Banad Viswanath was nominated and elected to become a Trustee to the Hindu Temple Society of N.A which runs the oldest and one of the largest organized Hindu Temples in the US, the Ganesha Temple in Flushing Queens.

Dev Viswanath is admitted as an attorney to the bar of the State of New Jersey as well as the bar to the State of New York. In addition, Dev is admitted to practice before the Federal District Court in New Jersey. He represents clients throughout the United States and the world in U.S. Immigration and Nationality matters.

In addition to being an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and he is currently on the editorial board as an associate editor for the annually published AILA Immigration Law Handbook presented to roughly 3000 practicing attorneys. He is also a member of the Queens County Bar Association.

Dev Banad Viswanath is married to Kara E. Murphy, also an attorney, with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and together they have three children, Meena, Dev Junior, and Geeta.
